RIP Brittany Murphy:(

Hi, people! It's me...again. But I am not smiling so bright right now. I am here to pay a small tribute to Brittany Murphy. Brittany Murphy is best known for her parts in Clueless, Girl, Interrupted, Don't Say A Word (my favorite) Blackbook and Uptown Girls.

I admired Brittany and loved pretty much all of her movies. In my opinion, she was never in a corny movie and she was never bad in them. Her movies were always interesting and entertaining; whether they were dramas, comedies or romance, I was never disappointed by Brittany's performance.

The saddest part, of course, is that she was only 32 years old and died of cardiac arrest. While coroners have assumed it was natural causes, investigators are probing into the actual causes of Ms. Murphy's arrest. Some people are suspicious that she was delving into drugs and things of that nature. Family members have said that she was experiencing flu like symptoms just before her death and think maybe that had something to do with it. Whatever the cause, the world has lost a true beauty and talent. My deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.

2009 has truly been the year of unforgettable deaths and as we all go into 2010, I wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.

God bless!

Movie reminders!

Hi, my people. How are you this Monday night? I'm doing great. Tonight is my last day of class! Last week was the last day in my other class so I'm pretty much on vacation until January. Yeah man! lol.

So tonight's post will be short and neutral. I just want to inform you guys of some very interesting movies that are in theaters or are coming out very soon.

The Princess and The Frog, an animated movie from Disney came out in theaters this past Friday, Dec. 11. Already it has banked $25 million at the box office coming in at #1.

Invictus, starring the likes of Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon also premiered in theaters Friday. The movie takes place at the fall of aparthied when Nelson Mandela decides to unite his countrymen by getting the Rugby World Cup to play in South Africa. The movie is already receiving high reviews and compliments. I may check this one out.

Avatar will be out in theaters this upcoming Friday, Dec 18. I definitely plan to check this movie out! The movie is based on the computer game of Pandora and features beautiful effects and incredible action scenes. Plus, it is written and directed by James Cameron who also directed Titanic, True Lies, and a bunch of other great movies all of which I have seen! lol.

Also out this Friday is Did You Hear About The Morgans? starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant as a miserable couple who gets a second chance when they witness a murder and have to go into protective custody together. It looks pretty funny. I'll probably rent it.

For the Christmas holiday, we have Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel starring Jason Lee as Dave and the voices of Justin Long (Mac on the Apple commercials. Love him!), Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney as Alvin, Simon and Theaodore. The female chipmunks that showed up in the latter cartoons are also going to be featured in the movie. So cute! I definitely plan to check this one out before the year's out! It comes out December 23.

And of course there's Sherlock Holmes which will be out in theaters on Christmas day! It is starring Robert Downey Jr who has given nothing but great performances in movies since his comeback from his fall. The preview looks both funny and adventurous and I will definitely be checking that out!

So, there you have it! 6 movies for you to plan to see before the year is ended. Have fun and don't forget that your girl Lew has come with the goods! lol.

Until next time,

Lew

Trash tv! GRRRRR!

Hi, everybody! How are you guys and gals this morning? I'm doing well although the weather in the norhteast is crappy as ever. But that's okay!

So today I'm just going to quickly complain about television again. I'm sorry. There are some really good shows out there. Like the NCIS franchise and The Good Wife starring Julianna Marguiles. Jeopardy and Wheel fo Fortune will always be great shows. But what's with all of the gossip shows? Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. Ugh! Such trash! Ok. So Tiger Woods cheated on his Swiss wife and her mother has had some medical issues. I mean, these are serious occurrences but I don't want to hear about them or ppl's opinions about them all darne night! Sheesh! Give it a break already! It's like one thing happens to a celebrity and everyone in the media goes crazy. Celebrities are humans. WE make them more than they are. I understand that when they do something it will be acknowledged because they are celebrities but the constant criticizing and opinions and tasteless comments are a bit much! I watched the shows because I was bored but I didn't watch either one for more than 10 minutes. By then I was already on trash overload.

On one of the shows, one of the hostesses made a comment about Tiger by comparing him with George Clooney. She said at least Goerge was honest and admits he never want to get married and settle down. Huh? Where the heck did that come from? And then her co host went on to say that she thinks Tiger Woods have slept with more women than George Clooney. Tasteless! You don't know how many women either guy has been with and stop talking about a professional golfer like he's some hot stuff! I know Tiger Woods is very famous, but he plays golf for peake's sakes! Don't compare him with George or any other person for that matter and stop making a big deal that he cheated on his wife. Who the heck cares? Really! I know that celebrities have to get used to being bad mouthed; it comes with the territory. But I can truly say that I still have respect for their personal lives as I do for all other ppl who don't live their lives in the spotlight. The media has become ridiculous and callous when it comes to being in other ppl's lives. I don't want to hear your opinion on other ppl's including celebrities' lives. Tell me something juicy about what's going on in your life. Nothing? I could've guessed!

Whew! Sorry, but I had to get that out. I mean, come on. Do we really want to constantly hear unknowns make hateful comments about the celebrities' that we have chosen to love and put on a pedistal? I don't. I like who I like and don't who I don't. Either way I don't want to hear the tasteless remarks. Reporters can report on ppl and the issues w/o being so mean. I know it seems that ppl love that stuff, but if it didn't exist they wouldn't. It's called integrity. The lack of it has gotten America into alot of recent trouble and it doesn't seem that we have learned our lesson.

Until next time,

Lew

Book reviews

So. I know I've been reviewing movies and giving my opinion on current events but now I want to do something a little different. I'm going to review two books I've read recently: Immortal Sins written by New York bestselling author Amanda Ashley and The Perfect Murder written by New York Times bestselling author Brenda Novak.

Both books were very interesting and I recommend both to anyone who likes to read sexy vampire novels and/or suspense thrillers.

Immortal Sins is about a woman named Karinna Adams who becomes obsessed with a painting in a local art gallery in which a gorgeous man seems to move around. She is lead to purchase the work and finds that not only can the man move around in the painting, but he also can send her messages! It turns out he's a vampire named Jason Rourke, condemned to the paiting by an evil wizard, Josef Vilnius! When Karrina mistakenly sets him free, her life is turned into a never ending adventure!

In The Perfect Murder, Sebastian Costas is a man that will go to all ends to find the man who killed his ex wife and son. He meets up with Jane Burke, a woman who survived almost being killed by her own husband who is now investigating the kidnapping of two young girls through The Last Stand, a crime solving organization formed by two other surviving women.

Like I said, both novels are interesting and keeps you reading until the very end. I recommend both and give kudos to Ashley and Novak for jobs well done!

Until next time,

Lew

More movie reviews!

Hi, everybody! How was your guy's weekend? Mine was not so good. I had a horrible argument with my mother! Not good. But I'll deal and I feel alright enough. For the evening I'm going to review two movies. One has recently came out on dvd and one just came out in theaters this past Friday.

First, I want to review the dvd I watched: "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." Ummm. Yeah. I don't recommend this movie. It's about a douchebag of a guy played by the very sexy Matthew McCanaughey, who attends his brother's wedding rehearsal dinner and wreak havoc. Looking at Matthew for any amount of time is nice but that's all the movie has to offer. It goes way too fast to seem realistic at all. One minute, he's a misogynistic bastard, the next (exactly like 20 minutes later) he's talking his brother into marriage and grieving giving up his childhood sweetheart played by Jennifer Garner. I know this is movie time, but even for movie time he becomes nice way too fast. Plus, he's visited by only one past girlfirend whom he dated for a half hour and another ghost like figure who he doesn't even know. Huh? What's with the title then? And, of course, there's his uncle, played by Michael Douglas, who taught him all of his evil ways. He comes back from the dead to teach his nephew a lesson but is still a womanizing ghost. Does that make any sense at all to anyone? If it does, please explain it to me. This movie is a womper. Score: D.

The movie that I went to see in the theaters just this past Friday is Up In The Air starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, and Anna Kendrick. One word: Fabulous! It's just such a good movie. Stellar performances by the entire cast! The movie is about Ryan Bingham, a guy who works at a company which specializes in downsizing for other companies. Ryan enjoys the constant traveling that comes with the job and has, unfortunately, delayed his life on the ground as he soured the air for years. Suddenly, his way of life is threatened when the newbie to the company, played by Kendrick, suggests the company saves travel money by firing clients over the internet. Farmiga plays the woman who finally captures Bingham's heart. It's a really great movie! It literally makes you laugh and cry and think, too. Featuring commentary by people effected by the epidemic of downsizing that has enveloped the country since the oncoming of the recession, this movie takes you into their world and teaches you a lesson: When bad times come, it helps to have someone to go home to. I loved it and recommend it to anybody! Score: A+.

So... Ghosts of Girlfriends Past? Not even rentable. Up In The Air? Go see it! Whether you spend $6.00 or $12.00, it's worth every penny! And ,of course, it's definitely rentable!

Until next time,

Lew

B. Walter's list

Hi, everyone! How are we this dazzling Thursday evening? lol.

So, I just wanted to really quickly let everyone know that Barbara Walters has compiled her 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 list and the show will air on ABC on December 9. Those who have interviewed with her for the special include Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Tyler Perry, Kate Gosselin and Brett Favre. The show will also include a profile segment on Michael Jackson's 3 beautiful children.

It sounds like it will be a very interesting and entertaining show.
Will you turn in? I might. If I remember. LOL!

Iron Man! WOOOOHOOO!

Hi, everyone! How are you guys doing this morning? Except for fogetting my purse at home and almost getting run over by a bus, I'm doing swell!

So, this morning in a fresh article, it has been revelaled that Iron Man 2 is to premiere in theaters May 7, 2010. I can't wait! The first Iron Man movie starring Robert Downey Jr was awesome! I thought all of the important elements of Iron Man were caputred in the movie along with great action scenes and an interesting storyline.

At the 2009 Comic Con, Jon Favreau revealed that War Machine, a superhero brought to life by Tony Stark's buddy James "Rhodey" Rhodes will be introduced in this sequel but it was announced to the rest of the world this morning. Also, who will be playing James has officially been changed from Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle. Since I so happen to like Don Cheadle very much as an actor, the change suits me just fine. I remember when the issue was first brought up earlier this year and Terrence Howard seemed pissed. Well, it was reported in Entertainment Weekly that the decision was made because Terrence didn't want to take a pay cut for the sequel after being the highest paid actor in the first movie. (He was paid more than Robert? Interesting. Hey, make your money man!) But his decision to not take a pay cut has cost him a very to-die- for role. I don't know whether to say that's what he gets or not. He may have thought he deserved his paycheck and there's nothing wrong with that so I can't judge if he was being greedy. At the same time he was playing a very coveted role as Tony Stark's right hand man. At the same time, I like Don Cheadle. So.....

Iron Man 2 hits theaters May 7, 2010. I will be there opening night no doubt!

Until next time,

Lew
